Juniors look back on successful season
NEWBURY Juniors 30th anniversary celebrations have had to be put on hold.
The club were looking forward to celebrating the milestone at their end-of-season presentation, but that has been put back to next season because of the coronavirus outbreak.
The club had more than 100 girls involved in netball in the Newbury and Thatcham District, and introduced an under-10 age group which managed just one training session before Covid-19 brought a halt to proceedings.
All Newbury’s age groups played in the Berkshire Junior League, with some superb results after the league finalised the results on average points difference.
The under-11s were crowned champions of Division 2, while the under-13s won Division 1 and the under-16s lifted the Division 1 title.
In Division 1 of the other age groups, the under-12s were sixth and the under-14s second.
The under-16s also fielded a team in Division 2 of the adult Newbury Netball League and finished fifth.
The Newbury Juniors Coaching Award winners for 2019/20 were:
