Zia gets in tune to help children cope with the lockdown

-

A SEVEN-year-old girl from Lambourn has released a song to help raise money for Children’s Mental Health Week this week.

Zia Miles collaborated with her father Jodie, who has been suffering the effects of post-Covid syndrome for the last 11 months.

Throughout a difficult year they have supported each other through being as creative as they can be. Mr Miles, who plays piano on the song, said: “We’ve found it helpful for our own mental health and wellbeing to focus on being creative through music.” The result is the song I’m With You.

The pair said that by focussing on music, it has helped provide some continuity and regularity during the last few months.

Mr Miles said: “Over Christmas my daughter said she wanted to do something to help others, and we decided to raise money to help children who are struggling with mental health problems during these difficult times.

“We’ve spent the last few weeks recording a song as her response to the current situation we all find ourselves in. We’ve taken time and care working together as daddy and daughter to develop the track. “It’s her response from her heart, giving a perspective as she experiences this massive landmark moment in all our lives.

“Whether or not people are able to help with the fundraising, we hope they listen to it, coming as it does from a place of innocence and love, and that it lifts their day.”

Mr Miles and Zia have set up a JustGiving page at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/imwithyou and all donations will go to the ‘Place2Be’ charity, which uses a therapeutic approach to provide mental health services in schools across the UK.
