£500 buys some more time to talk

Housebuilder supports young people’s mental health

-

YOUTH counselling charity Time to Talk has received a donation from a Hungerfordbased housebuilder.

David Wilson Homes Southern is providing £500 to the service in the run-up to Time to Talk Day today (Thursday).

Time to Talk Day encourages young people to engage with support services, aiming to break the taboo around mental healthrelated issues.

The donation is being made via David Wilson Homes’ Community Fund, which supports good causes in the firm’s areas of operation.

Managing director Paul Crispin said: “Time to Talk carries out admirable work and we’re proud that we can support the charity in continuing to make a difference to so many lives in the local community.

“The role of our Community Fund scheme is to back the wonderful charity work near to where we build and we’re thrilled we’ve been able to support Time to Talk with our donation.”

Time to Talk was founded in 1986 and provides counselling to young people aged between 11 and 25 across West Berkshire.

It works actively with schools and GPs as part of its outreach.

It costs around £350 for a young person to complete their counselling ‘journey’ with Time to Talk.

Time to Talk charity service manager Tammy Willsher said: “We were delighted when David Wilson Homes got in touch – it’s always lovely to receive a totally unexpected donation.

“This will make a positive impact on the mental health of young people we support across

the Newbury area.

“There are so many fantastic charities struggling to make ends meet at the moment, so community schemes like David Wilson Homes’ are vital to our continuing existence.

“We appreciate that businesses and their employees are currently facing many challenges of their own, so to take the time and trouble to choose us for a charity donation is especially poignant at this moment in time.”
