Valley Veterinary Group petcare specialists

-

THE Valley Veterinary Group is a long-established veterinary practice based in the Reading and West Berkshire area.

They are proud to be one of the last remaining independent practices in the county.

Having been part of the local community for more than 50 years, they fully intend to stay that way, in order to offer their clients an outstanding level of care.

Being an independent practice means that they are solely-owned by vets, not a financially-driven business operative. They are non-corporate, allowing them to make decisions based on the needs of their animal rather than concentrating on sales targets. Their dedicated team of vets, nurses and receptionists all see your pet as their main priority. Valley Veterinary Group has three branches across the area – the main surgery is located in Tutts Clump, with branches in Pangbourne and Spencers Wood. Each of the surgeries are well equipped and have flexible consulting times to suit you and your pet.

Cats are well provided for with the option of specific cat-only clinics separate to our canine friends. At the cat-only clinics you should never meet a dog in the waiting room and will be guaranteed to see a vet with a particular interest in feline medicine.

The team will always attempt to make your pet’s experience as calm and stress-free as possible. Each of the five vets have their own areas of interest and they are able to offer expert orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery as well as medical workups and diagnostics plus imaging, including x-ray and ultrasound.

They are able to run many blood tests in-house and will always aim to provide you with a diagnosis for your pet as soon as they possibly can.

Routine operations such as neutering and dentals are also available on any weekday at all branches at a highly competitive price.

Senior clinics are available for both older dogs and cats, which include a heavily discounted full blood screen, urine screen and blood pressure monitoring. Again, these are offered at flexible times for you and your pet and the practice will happily cater for animals who may be a little nervous about staying. A well-staffed nursing team means they can offer one-to-one care for those animals who need it during their stay.

The nurses are a very important part of the team and nurse clinics have recently been introduced at all branches.

This means they are able to offer weight clinics, advice on all aspects of pet care and even help with things such as applying flea and worm medication to your pets without you needing to see the vet. They are also a training practice for veterinary nurses, so you may see students in their striped green tunics under supervision from vets and registered veterinary nurses.

They are a vital part of the practice. The majority of team’s work is centred around small animals – ranging from cats and dogs, right through to chickens, rats and tortoises.

This wide range of work means all of the vets are well used to the unexpected and are happy to help with whatever may arrive on any day of the week.

The clinics provide as much emergency cover in-house as is possible and hold regular clinics at weekends across all three of their branches, with no additional out of hours fee to pay – so no need to worry all weekend while waiting to see the vet on Monday morning. Valley Veterinary Group are experienced at dealing with emergencies of all kinds and there is always a nurse on the end of the phone to offer triage and advice.
