Thanks to all who have helped John O’Gaunt

-

THE community of John O’Gaunt School in Hungerford would like to take the opportunity to publicly thank the wonderful, hard-working army of volunteers that responded to our call for help, in the mass-testing of students for coronavirus over recent weeks.

Alongside staff and parents, the volunteers stepped up to train, don

PPE and taken part in this historic effort to get our students safely back into the classroom.

It was a genuine pleasure to meet new members of our wider community and work alongside them in the very strange situation we found ourselves in.

Whether our volunteers were tasked with reassuring, organising and instructing students, or testing swabs, we simply could not have done what was asked of us without their help.

As a result, this momentous task went smoothly and any anxiety from students about the testing process was soon dispelled in a warm and friendly ‘Hungerford’ manner.

One of our volunteers remarked how cheering it was to see those students who entered in apprehension, walking out a little taller, encouraging their classmates on their way out.

We are very proud of the community that surrounds and supports John O’Gaunt School.

We hope our volunteers will look back on this time with pride too, knowing that they have been a part of history.

We would like to thank them all sincerely, for giving up their time to train and volunteer in our school ‘Covid testing labs’.
