THE Charlie Hills-trained Royal Commando stormed to victory in the Unibet Cammidge Trophy Stakes at Doncaster on Saturday.

The four-year-out took the lead inside the final furlong, to finish ahead of the Kevin Ryan duo of Emaraaty Ana and Brando in second and third respective­ly.

In the same race, fellow Lambourn trainer Clive Cox saw Tis Marvellous finish in ninth place.

The win was Hills’ second of the day as, at Wolverhamp­ton, Spurofthem­oment won a Class 5 Handicap.

Elsewhere, at Kempton, Ed Walker’s Stormy Antarctic finished second in the Ladbrokes Magnolia Stakes, finishing behind the John Gosden-trained Global Giant.

Walker, however, did secure a winner at the meeting as Great Ambassador won a Class 2 Handicap, ahead of Mick Channon’s Barbill – who finished second.

In a Class 5 Novice Stakes at Kempton, Andrew Balding’s Auriferous finished second to Otyrar, while the

Harry Dunlop-trained Maketh Believeth came third.

At racing at Meydan Racecouse, Dubai, the Baldingtra­ined Spanish Mission finished fifth in the Dubai Gold Cup Group 2 Stakes, while Jamie Osbourne’s Mekong was ninth. n Lambourn-based jockeys Hollie Doyle, Oisin Murphy and Saffie Osborne have signed up to join a new Racing League competitio­n which begins in summer.

There are 12 teams, with either two or four trainers and each team will compete across 36 races of distances varying between five and 12 furlongs.

Each race is worth at least £50,000 in prize money and the league will commence on July 26 at Newcastle.

There will be a meeting at Doncaster and Royal Windsor, as well as two meetings from Lingfield before a return to Newcastle.

Local trainers Channon, Cox, Hills, Osborne, Balding, Hughie Morrison and Nicky Henderson will also be involved.
