Six in 10 adults now vaccinated in West Berks

MORE than 60 per cent of adults in West Berkshire have received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.

The NHS states that 77,657 people in West Berkshire had received a jab by March 28 and 15,221 of them are under the age of 50.

That means around 63 per cent of the adult population in West Berkshire has been vaccinated, as there are around 122,855 adults living in the district, according to the latest Office for National Statistics estimate.

The vaccine data has been broken down to show how many people in each of the local neighbourhoods, which are known as Middle Super Output Areas, have taken the jab.

According to the figures, 5,168 people in Thatcham South East and Bradfield have received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.

There are 4,489 people in Newbury Wash Common, 4,157 in Newbury Central and Greenham, and 4,035 in Calcot North and Little Heath who have received a jab.

While 3,986 people in Hermitage and Cold Ash and 3,916 in Newbury North West have been vaccinated.

West Berkshire’s infection rate peaked at 430.4 cases per 100,000 people on January 2, after a surge in cases in December.

But the infection rate has plummeted during the third national lockdown and it now stands at 20.8 cases per 100,000 people.

During the pandemic, 6,310 people in West Berkshire have tested positive for the virus and 247 of them have died.

Across Berkshire, 392,874 people have taken at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, according to the latest NHS figures.
