MP opens football club’s pavilion

-

HUNGERFORD Town Football Club’s new changing pavilion was officially opened by Newbury MP Laura Farris recently.

Mrs Farris was joined by Hungerford mayor Helen Simpson, former mayor and Hungerford Town FC life president Ron Tarry, committee members and other guests as she cut the ribbon.

Town and Manor of Hungerford CEO Ellie Dickins and Constable Peter Joseph were also present at the event.

The new pavilion, which cost £200,000 to build, is the last of the improvements being made by the club following the construction of a new stand and additional turnstiles.

Hungerford Town FC chairman Patrick Chambers said: “We’d like to say a big thank you to the Football Foundation, The Good Exchange, Hungerford Town Council and our fans and sponsors who made it possible with their generous donations.

“The new changing pavilion is the last improvement required to maintain our status as a National League South club.

“It was a special day having our local MP Laura Farris doing the official opening and a special day for her too I imagine as she told us it is the first ever plaque with her name on it.

“For a club our size, we are continuing to punch above our weight, both in terms of the facilities we now have at the ground and our performances on the pitch.”

Mrs Farris said: “I was

honoured to be asked to come down to open the club’s new changing pavilion.

“The facilities are amazing and wouldn’t look out of place at a league ground.

“The club continues to go from strength to strength and this pavilion is a reflection of their success.

“These are exciting times for Hungerford FC and I wish them all the best for the forthcoming season.”
