Animal charity is new bakery outlet

-

BREAD and Beyond – the bakery staffed by members of the Prior’s Court community in Hermitage – has announced Trindledown Farm as its latest stockist.

Prior’s Court offers training and education opportunities to young people with autism and Bread and Beyond is one of its key projects.

The bakery, which produces a range of breads, treats and savouries, operates out of Prior’s Court’s Hermitage premises and exclusively employs young people in the care of Prior’s Court.

The local branch of the National Animal Welfare Trust is based at Trindledown Farm, Great Shefford.

Following a deal with Prior’s Court, the farm’s on-site shops are now stocking Bread and Beyond produce.

The bakery manager Dylan Needham said: “It is hugely important that charities support one another and so it is fantastic news that the Berkshire branch of National Animal Welfare Trust is now stocking our products and backing our work.

“With only 32 per cent of autistic adults in the UK in any form of work, it is important that the opportunity to gain employment-relevant skills is available to the young people at Prior’s Court.

“By becoming a stockist, Trindledown Farm and its visitors to Bailey’s Café are helping to support our young people to thrive.

“All profits from Bread and Beyond products go back into the work of the Prior’s Court Foundation so customers will be supporting efforts to close the ‘autism employment gap’ – as well as enjoying delicious, hand-crafted baked goods.”

Bread and Beyond’s own facilities are not open to the public, but their products are stocked by a number of schools, businesses and organisations across the district.

Alongside Trindledown, these include Londis Chieveley Village Stores and Stockcross Village Stores.

The fundraising and supporter relations officer at Trindledown Farm, Cy Grove, said: “We have chosen to work alongside Bread and Beyond because of the project’s uniqueness and great work that it does for those with autism.

“As well as supporting those at Prior’s Court, the sale of the range of breads will help to raise money for the rescue animals in our care.

“Therefore, by purchasing the bread from Trindledown, buyers support two causes at once. We are excited to be stocking their products which are a great addition to our local produce shop at the farm.”
