Leeson keeps Woodhay in the running

EAST Woodhay finally broke their away day blues with a six-wicket win at Bishops Waltham to stay in the Division 2 promotion shake up with just the four games left to play.

An impressive bowling and fielding display restricted Waltham to 157-7 from their 40 overs.

Woodhay openers Joe Lawrance and Adam Barnes made a steady start, reaching 34 before Lawrance was caught for 12.

A solid partnershi­p of 45 between Barnes and Tom Leeson got the visitors up to 79 before Barnes holed out for 31.

Another good stand between Leeson (53no) and Rich Dando got Woodhay close and they eased over the line in the 38th over.

Hungerford slipped to a 42-run defeat at the hands of Amport in Division 3 North.

Oliver Tulloch was the pick of the Hungerford bowlers, taking 3-32 as Amport totalled 237-8.

Opener Nick Burton hit a fine 58 and he received good support from Justin Leliot (39no), but Hungerford were bowled out for 195 with six balls to go.

Ed Lyle blasted a brilliant century as Kingsclere cruised to a 148run win over Froxfield in Division 4 North.

Lyle smashed eight fours and seven sixes in his 100, while Peter Frith (50) and Ross Andrews (49) helped their side to 253-5.

Then Chris Hanney (5-22) and Mark Hirst (3-23) shot Froxfield out for 105.

Donnington eased to a 65-run win over St Mary Bourne in Division 5 North East.

Donnington were in trouble at 30-3 before Will Hamilton-Russell hammered seven sixes in his 64 to help his side to 134-7.

Then a fine late partnershi­p between the experience­d Jo Barton (42) and Tony Oliver (32no) helped the Dons push on to 210-8.

Saints were soon struggling as Hamilton-Russell took two early wickets.

Tom Elmslie (4-39) and Phil Hobbs (2-18) kept the pressure on and it was left to skipper Ady Waters to wrap things up with the final two wickets as Saints were dismissed for 145.
