Thatcham take Berkshire county victory

THATCHAM Bowls Club won the Berkshire County mixed double fours against Caversham on Sunday in a very closely-fought game, winning 42-41.

The Thatcham ladies senior four’s team of Angelina Davies, Diana Garrard, Gill Bloor and Barbara Louis play against Didcot in the final on Saturday at Caversham BC.

Bet Aubrey has reached the final in the over-55 singles and will play against Jan Mayne from Maidenhead Town on August 14.

Before this, she will play in the final of the Champions of Champions against Jane Murphey of Hagbourne on August 8.

In the Kennet League Division 1 West, Thatcham A made it five wins out of five after beating Hagbourne 73-99 on shots and 2-12 on points.

Newbury, however, suffered defeat against Tilehurst A as they lost 99-64 on shots and 14-0 on points.

In Division 2 West, Thatcham B beat Tilehurst B 76-66 on shots and 11-3 on points.

There were defeats for Pangbourne and Burghfield in the Kennet League LV Division 2 Central West as they lost to TMX B and Trentham A.

In Division 1 West, Thatcham A beat Abingdon B by 66-50 shots and 9-1 points.

However, Thatcham B suffered another league defeat at home to Hagbourne, going down 46-50 shots and 4-6 on points.

Hungerford A also tasted defeat, losing 28-61 on shots and 0-10 on points at home to Abingdon A.

In Division 2 West, Newbury A secured a 58-46 and 8-2 win against Abingdon C.

In Division 3 West, Kintbury suffered a loss against Didcot B, but Newbury B secured a win against Didcot.

Elsewhere, Thatcham C lost 38-59 on shots and 0-10 on points to Hungerford B.
