Lauren’s off to a flyer with Brave

-

LAUREN Bell and her Southern Brave teammates will not get complacent as The Hundred reaches its halfway stage.

Brave, who are coached by former England captain Charlotte Edwards, have won all four of their games so far.

In their most recent fixture, Brave beat London Spirit by seven wickets at Lord’s on Sunday, with Bell taking one wicket.

She said: “It has been a great start. It is so exciting that the competition has been amazing so far and everyone has stepped up to the plate really.

“We know we have a strong team, but we don’t want to get complacent because we want to keep pushing so we can get a place in the finals.

“We are very aware that even though we have won four games, it has not guaranteed us anything and we’re taking each game as it comes.

“We want to win every game and everyone wants to beat us because we are the unbeaten team.”

The 20-year-old has been one of the tournament’s stand-out players, taking five wickets from just four games, and she has praised her teammates for the continued support.

She said: “I am definitely happy with how I have started and I have great backing from Anya [Shrubsole] and Lottie [Charlotte Edwards].

“I know they have trust in me and that is great as a bowler knowing your captain and manager have faith in you.

“I am happier that the team are winning because lots of people are putting in great performances and it’s one of the best things with our team because we don’t rely on just one or two people.”

Bell, who played in the 1st

XI at Bradfield College and Hungerford Cricket Club, has been overwhelmed with the support that she and the team have received in their first few games.

She said: “It has been amazing. The crowds have been amazing and in some of our games my adrenaline has never been so high.

“We played at Lords recently and there were 15,000 people – the support is fantastic.

“I have never experienced anything like it.”
