Thinking about what to do next? Think about Choice

-

CHOICE Care is hiring social care apprentices for anyone over 16, no qualifications necessary. You’d be enrolled in a structured training programme so that you continue to learn while you work and develop your skills, and you get paid too.

The opportunity to make a real and lasting difference to the lives of the people you support brings an extraordinary sense of achievement.

You would work alongside experienced staff and learn how to provide support across a range of activities, from preparing meals and helping with shopping, to playing games, craft activities, going bowling or visiting the cinema, joining in on trips to farms or other fun, local events.

Michael joined Choice as a support worker in 2019 in Hampshire, supporting people with learning disabilities and mental health conditions. He said “I was very shy and nervous and found it very difficult to start with due to my dyslexia.

“Having support from the staff and management team I was encouraged to become a Fast Track Shift Leader. “I was developing my confidence and understanding my job role a lot more. “In January 2021, I was offered the position of Acting Team Leader – my confidence sky rocketed, running shifts became so natural and I started to give advice to newer staff.

“In April, I was offered a Team Leader role which is a big achievement for me. I appreciate my job more than I ever have.”

In just over two years, Michael has developed his own confidence, been promoted to a Team Leader, and has found a job he truly loves.
