AUTISM charity Prior’s Court has raised more than £1m for its new Performing Arts Centre for young people with complex needs.

And it has only £115,000 left to raise.

Work is well under way on building the new centre which, once open in the 2024/25 school year, will feature adapted facilities to enable autistic people to access opportunities in music, dance and drama.

The fundraising milestone was reached over the past month thanks to significant donations from The Gosling Foundation, The Cadogan Charity, The Alchemy Foundation, The Gerald Palmer Eling Trust and The Beatrice Laing Trust.

Dedicated individuals also helped to his total by setting their own challenges:

Prior’s Court’s own Mark Bailey took on his 24-hour cycling challenge on March 6/7.

And Prior’s Court employees James Gordon and Evie Merry tackled the Queen Elizabeth Park Half Marathon and 10k event on March 3.

Zoe Brown, of Charles Hunter Associates, is also doing a sponsored white-collar boxing event.

Prior’s Court fundraising manager Natalie Norris said: “This is a fabulous achievement to have passed the £1m mark in the fundraising campaign for this vitally important centre.

“Thank you to every single person and group who has made a donation to this appeal and played a part in supporting autistic young people to better access the transformational power of the performing arts.

“This £115,000 is about creating an outdoor performance space, something which is vital to this unique appeal as so many young people here can struggle to transition to an indoor space.

“An outdoor space would provide the right area they could use to begin their performing arts learning journey.”
