I’ll cycle to Paris in memory of my dad

- BY MARI JONES

AWOMAN from Deganwy is to cycle 300 miles from London to Paris in memory of her beloved dad who died from epilepsy.

Caitlin Goosey was just 15 when she tragically lost her father Neil in 1999.

The former Ysgol y Creuddyn pupil grew up in Deganwy and her mother Sally still lives in the village.

The 31-year-old has been living and working in London for seven years, but says she still regards Deganwy as home.

She said: “A few years ago, I ran the London Marathon in aid of Epilepsy Research UK in memory of my dad, who had also completed the marathon the same year he died.

“Now I’m getting on my bike to help stop other families going through what we went through.”

In September, Caitlin will be cycling 300 miles over four days from London to Paris.

She said: “My dad had suffered from epilepsy for most of his life and, since then, I have been looking for ways to raise money in the hope that it might stop other families having to endure the pain we went through.

“Most of my weekends in the lead-up to the challenge will be taken up with training in the Surrey hills, including Box Hill which

of her dad was part of the Olympic road race route in 2012.

“Sometimes I brave the cycle across London to commute to work, but it’s not always the safest way or best way to train, so I’ll head to an early morning spinning class near my office before heading to work.

“I have lots of fundraising events planned across the next few months, but there’s still a big target of £1,300 to meet so I need all the help I can get.

“If anybody has some spare change and would like to donate to a great cause I’d be so grateful.”
