NORTH Wales Road Runners Club enjoyed both individual and team success at a prestigious event in Cheshire.

Last Sunday, eight club members traveled to Ellesmere Port to take part in the Sport in the Port 10k.

In a strong field, the trio of Martin Green (36.02), Chris Yorke (36.17) and Andrew Kerr (36.19) picked up the second team prize.

Yorke also finished second in his category.

Others taking part were Kevin Higgins (45.38), John Walker (45.53), Jon Evans (47.17), Mandy Owen (54.09-PB) and Josie Davies (58.38).

Twelve NWRRC members were among a strong field of 110 runners at the Deiniolen 10k.

Martin Green (37.43) had a fine run to finish sixth overall and first in category, while John Ford (38.46) came home a credible ninth and second in section in his first full road race since the Snowdonia Marathon.

Only seven seconds separated Iwan Evans (42.18) and Leon Davies (42.25), both recording a personal best time despite the race being billed as the toughest road 10k in the UK.

Finishing third in their respective categories were Steven Roberts (44.04) and Gemma Brown (45.52).

Also taking part were Dean Allison (44.19), Ben Hudson (46.23), Darren Griss (46.48), Jon Evans (47.54), John Walker (48.49) and Sarah Ferguson (51.58).

Last Saturday, Mark Davies recorded his best result so far this year with a superb third overall in the Ras Pedal Cwm Pennant, which involved almost 5,500 feet of climbing in just under 16 miles.

On the same day, Jon Evans took part in his sixth, and most challenging, marathon this year.

The Trail Marathon Wales involved almost 4,000 feet of climbing in the forestry trails at Coed-y-Brenin.

Evans ran a strong race to finish in four hours, 40 minutes and 31 seconds and was joined by club mate Mark Jones (5-39.12).

Tackling the half marathon were Gemma Brown (2-03.45) and Nicola Lewis (3-20.12).

Another busy week for NWRRC started with James Wan, Sean Gavin and Paula Roberts taking part in the latest race in the Tuesday Evening Fell series, the challenging Tal y Mignedd.
