Pen Phoenix star Williams lands award

-

DANIEL WILLIAMS of Penmaenmawr Phoenix was named Division Two Player of the Season at the Welsh Alliance League AGM.

Striker Williams has become a big Phoenix favourite in recent seasons due to his pace, skill and goals.

Despite Pen finishing nextbottom of Division Two, the performances of Williams made him a stand-out player.

Another highlight from the meeting was Llandudno Junction being acclaimed as Division One runners-up the season after they struggled near the basement.

It was also announced at the AGM, held at the Split Willow in Llanfairfechan, that the Welsh Alliance will operate with a record 47 teams next season.

As well as there being 16 teams in Division One and 15 in Division Two, there will be eight sides in each of the two new reserve divisions.

Reserve Division (East) will feature Colwyn Bay, Denbigh Town, Glan Conwy, Llandyrnog United, Llandudno Junction, Llanrwst United, Meliden and Prestatyn Sports.

In the Reserve Division (West) will be Blaenau Ffestin- iog Amateurs, Holyhead Hotspur, Llangefni Town, Llanberis, Llanrug United, Porthmadog, Pwllheli and Trearddur Bay United.

Divisions One and Two will kick off on August 8 and the revamped reserve divisions begin their matches on August 2.
