Chris through to UK golf final
LLANDUDNO’S Chris Morgan and Nigel Wakefield from Cheshire have claimed places in the Audi Quattro Cup UK Final golf tournament that will be staged in September
Morgan and playing partner Wakefield won a regional final at the Mere Golf Resort and Spa in Cheshire this week.
They triumphed with a score of 44 points in the Stableford rules matches.
Fifteen pairs of amateur golfers contested the 18-hole competition having earned a regional final place by means of a top placing in one of almost 50 qualifying tournaments staged since April.
The top-two pairs from the Cheshire round, plus six other regional final events, will contest the Audi Quattro Cup UK Final at Bowood Golf and Country Club near Calne, Wiltshire, in September.
Ultimately two pairs will represent Great Britain in the Audi Quattro Cup World Final, staged at The Ocean Course at Cabo del Sol Golf Club, Los Cabos, Mexico.
The Audi Quattro Cup, being run for the 25th year, is the world’s largest amateur golf competition with almost 100,000 players from over 50 countries competing.
