TIME TO NOMINATE YOUR CHAMPIONS
THE search is now underway for the unsung heroes and heroines of our community.
Trinity Mirror North Wales has again joined forces with ScottishPower Foundation to host Your Champions 2015 and pay tribute to those who are making a real difference in our area.
Your Champions Awards is this year celebrating its 18th year of recognising those unsung heroes in North Wales.
A glittering gala red-carpet event will be held at the St George’s Hotel, Llandudno, on Friday October 9 with Welsh radio and television presenter Roy Noble OBE on hand to present awards to this year’s winners.
The 2014 Champion of Champions was prolific fundraiser and campaigner Irfon Williams from Bangor, the father of five battling bowel and liver cancer.
Ann Loughrey, Trustee and Executive Officer of the ScottishPower Foundation said: “Your Champions Awards provides a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the often unrecognised work of unsung heroes in the community.
“We welcome nominations from individuals or groups who have gone above and beyond the call of duty and really make a difference.
“This could be helping their neighbours, improving the environment, volunteering for charities or even an act of bravery.
“ScottishPower Foundations is committed to helping the communities in which we serve and look forward to give recognition at the awards ceremony in October”.
Andrew Campbell, Editor of Daily Post Wales, said: “Your Champions is a special event every year and we have been proud to play our part in highlighting some wonderful stories about the incredible work that goes behind the scenes of our communities.
“We hope that 2015 will be even more memorable and I would urge everyone out there who knows of an individual or group that is deserves recogni- tion to let us know about them.“
