Youngsters draw up safety tips
ARTISTIC youngsters from Abergele have come up trumps in competition to warn of the dangers of playing near construction sites.
The competition was organised by housing association Cartrefi Conwy and contractors G Purchase Construction Ltd who are carrying out major improvements to homes on the town’s Maes Canol estate.
Pupils from Ysgol Elfod and Ysgol Glan Gele designed posters aimed at keeping children safe.
The overall winner was Jessica Brierley, nine, a Year 9 pupil at Ysgol Elfod; runner-up was Lily-Beau Grindord. The winning entry for the colouring competition was Elaine Marie Evans, seven, who won a trip to Chester Zoo and second prize went to Charlie Galvin, age six. A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of stealing a car and crashing into a number of parked vehicles.
The Ambulance Service were called to Tan y Fron Road in Deganwy, shortly after 3am on Friday, with reports of a Red Ford Fiesta ending up on its roof after colliding with a number of parked vehicles.
But when paramedics arrived, the driver had reportedly left the scene.
Police officers found him an hour later. As a result, a 19-year-old was taken to hospital with minor injuries and was in police custody, held under suspicion of taking a vehicle without authorisation and driving a vehicle without a licence nor insurance.
The other vehicles are believed to have been empty at the time and no other injuries were reported.
