-

LLANDUDNO Cricket Club’s highly promising under-15 side experienced a mixed week.

The team were crowned Eryri U15 League champions with a game to spare, but came up short in their bid to reach the Welsh Cup Final.

Taking on Conwy in the league last week, Tudno set 137-8, Ethan Hill scoring 25, Solomon Dickens 18, Keating Ho-Pike 17 and Ben Williams 15. Conwy’s Stan Senior claimed a hat-trick in his analysis of 3-7.

Senior also top-scored with 45 as Conwy were restricted to 118-6 in reply, Solomon Dickens scooping 2-3, captain Luke Sumner 2-12, Savanna Dickens and Ben Williams one wicket each.

Llandudno won by 19 runs and sealed the title with one game to spare.

They now go on to represent Eryri in the North Wales finals, playing the champions of North East Wales in September at Mochdre.

Llandudno failed in their quest to make the Welsh Cup Final at Cardiff’s famous Swalec Stadium on August 11 when they were beaten by 39 runs in the semis against Gresford.

The Wrexham side won a vital toss and made 119-6, skipper Sumner being Llandudno’s star bowler with 3-19 off four overs and there was a wicket apiece for Hill, Matt Jones and Rafeez Mortuza.

In reply, Llandudno’s top batting order failed and only Sumner with 21 not out and Rafeez on 10 reached double figures in a disappointing total of 80.

Most of the team are eligible to play next year and will hope to go a step further in 2016.
