SOROP­TI­MISTS: Llan­dudno Sorop­ti­mists had a dis­play stand at the Vic­to­ria Cen­tre on July 20 to mark the Sorop­ti­mist Day of Ac­tion. Mem­bers col­lected sig­na­tures, against hu­man traf­fick­ing for the Pur­ple Teardrop Cam­paign and against land­mines for Hand­i­cap In­ter­na­tional. The Sorop­ti­mists also had a pres­ence at the Conwy Mu­sic Fes­ti­val last week as the club spon­sored a per­for­mance by a lo­cal group, ‘The Thorne Trio’. FOLKS ALONE: Liv­ing on one’s own with very few friends or rel­a­tives nearby can be a de­bil­i­tat­ing ex­pe­ri­ence. The aim, of Folks Alone is to break this trend and also to help older peo­ple keep their brains ac­tive through var­i­ous ac­tiv­i­ties. It meets at The Garage, New St, 2pm ev­ery first and third Thurs of the month. Mid-May to Aug meets on first Thurs , day and half day trips on the third Thurs­day. ST TUDNO’S CHURCH: Great Orme. Open ev­ery day. Open air ser­vice each Sun at 11am for which a free taxi leaves Holy Trin­ity at 10.30am. If the weather is poor, the ser­vice is held in the church. On Aug 2 the open air ser­vice will be fol­lowed by a short­ened Eucharist ser­vice in the church. Morn­ing Prayer most Sats at 9am. CHURCH OPEN DAY: On Sat Aug 1, St Tudno’s will be tak­ing part in the Dio­cese of Ban­gor’s Open Church Day, 10am-5pm. The theme is “Saints and Sin­ners” and Friends of St Tudno’s in­vite ev­ery­one to come along to learn about lo­cal char­ac­ters and le­gends and en­joy re­fresh­ments.
