AN IT technician used special software to access teenage girls on an internet site and recorded lewd sexual images of them which a judge said “all right-minded people would consider disgusting”.

Paul Calvert, 36, was jailed for 30 months after pleading guilty to 10 offences. Passing sentence, Mr Recorder John Philpotts said a police raid on Calvert’s home on Glyn y Marl Road, Llandudno Junction, had revealed “many images of the sexual abuse of children including a significant number of the most serious forms”.

The most serious case, Caernarfon Crown Court heard, involved “sexual interaction with a girl of eight”.

The charges included one of engaging in sexual activity with a

ASOLICITOR has described two traffic wardens as “preying vultures” as they slapped him with a parking fine while he dropped his daughter at her school prom.

Emily Sargent, 11, was excited to be attending the Hollywood Prom Night at Ysgol Porth y Felin, Conwy.

Her dad Simon said: “I parked a bit closer to the school entrance than normal, as Emily had her gown on and was wearing posh shoes.

“She’s off to Ysgol Aberconwy in September so this was her leaving do and was a big night for her.”

When Simon returned to his car he found a parking ticket had been placed on his windscreen by a traffic warden.

“Loads of parents were dropping their kids off, it was obvious to anyone watching that something was going on at the school,” he added.

“And I know two or three others got parking tickets. We park in the pay and display council car park on Llanrwst Road every day to drop off and pick up, child under 15, one of inciting the eight-year-old, six of making indecent photos of a child and two of possessing more than 23,000 such images.

Anna Pope, prosecuting, said police seized a laptop and external hard drive in his bedroom on which the material was found in hidden folders. He had complimented one girl on her body and claimed to be 21.

Miss Pope said Calvert told police: “It’s a big mistake, it will never happen again. I’m genuinely sorry.”

She said about the occasions in which a recording had been made: “There was a webcam at both ends and both were visible to each other.”

Recorder Philpotts imposed a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and Calvert must sign the sex offenders’ register for life. but we never have to pay because of the school. I was literally about two minutes while I took her to the school entrance.

“Two enforcement officers were rushing around dishing out tickets. It was disgusting – they were like a pair of preying vultures. When I went over to them to discuss the ticket, they refused to talk and just told me I was being filmed.”

Simon, 48, wrote a letter of appeal to Conwy council after the incident on July 8. The local authority has replied that he will still have to pay up as the car park is not free after 4pm.

“I will pay the £25 fine, because it goes up to £50 if you don’t, but I’m disgusted. My poor daughter felt partly responsible for the whole thing, but obviously it wasn’t anything to do with her.”

A council spokeswoman said: “Parking charges are applicable at this pay and display car park in the evening, as is the case in most of our pay and display car parks, and appropriate enforcement will take place as a result.

“There is an appeals process if someone believes they have been issued a penalty charge notice in error.”
