APPEAL OVER LACK OF FUNDS FOR CHURCHYARD

-

IN response to many complaints from the residents of Llysfaen, a scheme was set up 15 years ago, to tidy the upper and lower churchyards, which at the time were in a very poor state.

Since the scheme has been going, both churchyards have been kept in a very good state, the grass is cut every month during the growing season and this has made it so much safer and more pleasant for villagers with loved ones buried in the churchyard to visit their family graves.

However, keeping the grass cut costs money and for this we rely on contributions from the families who do have loved ones buried in the churchyards. We are very grateful to everyone who contributes on a regular basis, be it by monthly direct debit or by annual cheque.

Unfortunately, contributions have been dwindling year by year and the committee are now very worried about the amount of money being donated.

It would be a great pity if the lack of funds means that the churchyards revert back to their original overgrown and untidy condition.

We therefore appeal to all the residents of Llysfaen, who take pride in their village, to support us in our endeavours to keep the churchyards in their present condition.
