Walkers and collectors wanted for Orme walk

-

THE Denbighshire Friends of ChildLine are organising their 2015 Charity Walk around the Great Orme in Llandudno and are looking for extra sponsored walkers and collectors for the day.

Group Chairman Gerry Frobisher said: “This will be our twelfth consecutive annual ChildLine Walk around the Orme and all have been well supported by walkers and volunteers.

“This year’s walk will be held on Sunday, August 9, and will be in memory of Mike Cleary, the group’s treasurer, who passed away before Christmas 2014, and Eirlys Somerville who were both dedicated ChildLine fundraisers. The walk begins at the Cenotaph on the promenade and progresses along Marine Drive, around the Orme, down to the West Shore, along Gloddaeth Avenue and back to the Cenotaph. It’s only a little over six miles and some people have even run the distance in past years.”

Group Treasurer Danielle Jefferson said: “Each year we have a good number of walkers who get themselves sponsored to do the walk, and with the volunteer collectors on the day we can raise anywhere between £1,500 and £2,000. It costs £4 to answer each call made to ChildLine so all money raised goes to helping children and young people in Wales”.

Registration to walk is £5 which can be paid on the day if you only want to do the walk. For details and entry form contact Gerry on 01745 887972 or Shirley on 01745 584896.
