26 suspects on the run in N.Wales CRIMES INCLUDE ASSAULT, FRAUD, DRUGS SUPPLY, KIDNAPPING AND THEFT

North Wales Police and Crime Commission­er Winston Roddick said: “The figures do not appear to be unduly high and do not indicate an increase.

“There is nothing out of the ordinary in the figures quoted because you would expect the most recent ones to be higher. As in previous years, the totals of those unaccounte­d for will continue to fall as time wears on and the people concerned are dealt with.

“I am responsibl­e for scrutinizi­ng the force and holding the Chief Constable to account.

“Whilst there is no cause for concern, I am not complacent and I will continue to keep a close eye on the situation.”

North Wales Police said they had nothing further to add.

Two who jumped bail in 2007 are still outstandin­g in connection with offences over the supply, use and manufactur­e of drugs.

In 2008 somebody skipped bail for a suspected identity card offence.

During 2009 one person disappeare­d on suspicion of common assault.

Between 2010 and 2013, five suspects skipped bail for drug offences, traffic offences and indecent assault.

During 2014 eight people absconded in connection with robbery, drug offences, indecent assault, fraud and traffic offences.

And so far in 2015, there are 10 who have skipped police bail over crimes including threatenin­g behaviour, theft, fraud, assaults, harassment, kidnapping and criminal damage.

There was no data on locations where the suspects had failed to answer police bail.
