Community pulls together for hospice

-

THE community of a local village has come together to show their support for their local adult hospice.

Craig y Don Business Partnership has been set up by group of like-minded people made up of business owners, councillors, PCSOs and members of the friends of Craig y Don Park and throughout the year they organise events to support St David’s Hospice and local churches.

Rhian Hastings, owner of Coffee V café based on Mostyn Avenue said: “We as business owners are keen to improve Craig y Don area and support our local adult hospice in whatever way we can. “Recently, both members of my staff along with the local Co-op staff bravely took part in the new zip wire cavern challenge in Blaenau Ffestiniog. The challenge was not for the faint hearted, with 10 zip lines, rope bridges and obstacles courses and over 100 feet high in places. We are very proud to say our coffee shop raised over £300.

“In December we plan to organise ‘Carols in Craig Y Don” with donations split between St David’s Hospice and St David’s church.

“In our coffee shop we also have book shelves where by customers can buy any of the donated books in return for a donation to the Hospice.”

Agnes Jones, Community Fundraiser for St David’s Hospice, said: “We are extremely grateful for the support of the village. It is wonderful to see everyone working together for the Hospice and having fun whilst they do it.

“Without the support of our local communities, St David’s Hospice could not provide the best possible care to help improve the quality of life for our patients and make each day precious. We are a local charity which needs to raise over £1.9million every year.”
