WHILE it has been a relatively quiet week race-wise for the North Wales Road Runners, there was an excellent turnout at the club’s annual relay event along the Llandudno promenade, with 32 members taking part.

This year’s winning team was Hannah Griffith and Mark Davies.

Davies followed up the relay win with a fine fifth overall (third in category) in the Gladstone 9 fell race last Sunday, which involved over 2,200 feet of climbing including the peaks of Tal-y-Fan and Moel Lus.

Also taking part and finishing third in his category was Leon Davies, who finished 15th overall.

Also last Sunday, Jon Evans travelled to St Helens to take part in the challenging Griffin Grind five-mile race, where he recorded a time of 37 minutes.

Closer to home, Dean Allison took part in the Vale of Clwyd 5k, which he finished in a time of 20 minutes 16 seconds.

In the latest Saturday morning Conwy Parkrun event there were course personal bests by Cheryl Frost (24.38), Josie Davies (27.08) and Angharad Lewis a well run (27.23). Also taking part were Iwan Evans (19.40), who was 13th overall, and Alan Davies (24.59).

Last Sunday saw Abergele Mysteruns regular competitors John Humphries and Richard Borne tackle the Gladstone nine-mile fell race, in very hot conditions.

Borne had a fantastic run finishing in a time of 1 hour 43 and 31 seconds John Humphries also had a very good run recording a fine time of 1 hour 45 minutes 11 seconds

Last Wednesday four Mysteruns of Abergele travelled to take part in the Ponderosa four-mile fell race.

With weather conditions being atrocious heavy rain and low cloud made running conditions very difficult.

Borne led the team home in a time of 33 minutes 35 seconds, Humphries registered 39.57, Richard Marriott managed a splendid time of 45.58 and Lucy Marriott recorded 47.31.
