Tudno vets in control at the summit

LLANDUDNO A hold a commanding 10-point lead at the Gwynedd Senior Bowling League Division A summit after thrashing third-placed Craig-y-Don A 7-2 at home on Tuesday afternoon.

Richard Foster topped the Tudno card at 21-13, Dave Williams and Alan Dugdale recorded 21-16 wins and Roger Griffiths and Peter Wilde prevailed 21-18 apiece.

Craig-y-Don’s Gareth Hughes produced the best match victory of 21-10, while the visitors also triumphed 21-15 in the pairs, courtesy of John Monks and Peter Mceneany.

Llanrwst hammered visitors Beaumaris B 8-1, Steve Parry and Bob Astles both with 21-9 victories.

Also finishing on top for ‘Rwst were: David Williams (21-10), pairs Gwynfor Williams and Brian Williams (21-13), John B Pritchard (21-15) and Tom Davies (21-18).

Basement side Llanfairfe­chan A were caned 9-0 at Criccieth, while Penmaenmaw­r went down 7-2 at Benllech, Barry Chilton and Bill Starr both won 21-11 for the visitors.

Other score: Beaumaris A 7 Bethesda A 2.

Llandudno B are nine points clear in Division B after edging a 5-4 decision at neighbours Craig-y-Don B.

Craig-y-Don won 4-3 on games, but Tudno’s 15-chalks superiorit­y in the aggregates earned them the all-important bonus.

Marylyn Lea’s 21-6 success for the visitors played a huge role in the final outcome.

Other Llandudno winners were: Clive Brook and Bill Sawyer (21-12) and Peter Rigby (21-17).

Craig-y-Don replied through Roger Beards (21-14), George Jackson (21-18), Steve Tiesteel (21-19) and June Kirsop (21-20).

Dwygyfylch­i also nudged the honours 5-4 at Porthaethw­y.

Again, it was 4-3 to the Anglesey side on games, but the visitors prospered by topping the aggregates. Pairs Carole Johnson and Ken Jones (21-4), Pat Jones (21-9) and Joan Griffiths (21-13) ensured Dwygyfylch­i succeeded.
