Llandudno feel the power of the Bridge

LLANDUDNO felt the power of the champions when Menai Bridge ran out convincing winners at The Oval last weekend.

After winning the toss, the North Wales Premier Division leaders chose to bat and set 281-8 off 50 overs.

Matthew Jones was Tudno’s most successful bowler with 3-53, Kim Roodt claiming 2-56 and Jack Rimmington 2-61.

Despite a stunning 69 off 67 balls, including three fours and five sixes, from Kevin James, the hosts could only muster 177 all out in reply, Sam Rimmington added 31. Points: 15-0 to Menai Bridge. Llandudno travel to St Asaph this Saturday and will seek a return to winning ways.

Mochdre, who visit Pwllheli this Saturday, lost 13-2 at Hawarden Park last weekend.

Park set 247-9, Gareth Davies taking 4-46 and Matthew Humphreys 3-62 for the visitors.

Mochdre’s response began with a great partnershi­p from Will Evans (74) and Gareth Davies (53), but the rest of the batting failed and they were dismissed for 195.

Llanrwst are up to second and in the automatic promotion places in Division One after defeating Bersham by 53 runs at Parc Gwydir.

Opener David Taylor starred with 91 as the Rwsters posted 196 all out.

Bersham were then restricted to 143-8, Aron Hughes 3-5 off 3.2 overs, Amlyn Layton 2-26, Trefor Williams 2-45.

Conwy lost by 51 runs at home to promotion-chasing Llay Welfare.

Put into bat, Llay chalked up 205 all out, Philip Wilson 4-39 and Nick Davies 2-14.

Philip Davies hit 65 in Conwy’s innings, but lacked support as the home side were all back in the pavilion for 154. Points: 13-2.

Division Two action saw Abergele sent packing for 120 at Carmel, Sam Painter 40, and the hosts breezed home on 124-3, David Moulson 2-24.

Llandudno seconds were 113 all out at Gresford seconds, who responded with 117-1 and a 9-1 success.

Hawarden Park seconds made 219-8 at Mochdre seconds, Martin Roberts 4-44, and the home reply ended on 120, Mike Humphreys the only double-figure scorer with a dominant 93. Points: 9-1.

In Division Three, Conwy seconds won their game at Bodedern seconds 10-0 on a walkover.

Llanrwst seconds set 179-9 at Denbigh seconds, Carl Badger-Watts 47 and Jo Maguire 45, but the home side coasted home on 180-3 to seal an 8-2 verdict.

Abergele seconds won a tight one at home to Mold seconds by two wickets in Division Four.

Rick Ashby notched 5-27 and Kyle Walker 2-28 as Mold were rolled over for 124 and Gele hit back with 125-8, Shrisha Shenoy 36, Mike Thompson 34 and David Bissell a vital 21 no.
