Mike joins Seasiders
FORMER Wrexham and Wales Under-21 defender Mike Williams has come out of retirement and joined Dafabet Welsh Premier League newcomers MBi Llandudno.
The one-time Dragons, Kidderminster and Altrincham player joins brother Marc Williams at Maesdu Park as part of the Seasiders’ bid to shine in their first season in the WPL.
Mike Williams had to call time on his footballing career in November 2014 after being diagnosed with osteoarthritis in both hips.
But he has decided to extend his playing career in the WPL after coming through a tough pre-season and several warm-up matches.
Tudno manager Alan Morgan said: “He’s been different class in pre-season for us.
“Mike just wanted to train and see if he could still compete at a high level which he has shown, in last Saturday’s match against Rushall Olympic, he can.
“I’m looking forward to working with him for the coming season, his experience will be vital for us.”
Williams said: “After not playing for a good while, pre-season was an opportunity for me to get my head down, prove my fitness and earn myself a contract.
“There is a good work ethic here and that has created a great team-focused dressing room and I’m happy now to be a part of that and I can’t wait for the season to start.”
