Mighty Quinn seals victory for the Railwaymen

-

LLANDUDNO Junction hit winning form in Welsh Alliance Division One on Tuesday night with a 3-1 triumph at Llanrwst United.

The hosts threatened early when Bryn Jenkins’ fierce shot was held well by Junction keeper Damian Bialozynski.

The Railwaymen took a 28thminute lead when Alfie Caldecott was fouled outside the box and Sam Sinkinson lifted his free kick over the wall and into the net.

It became 2-0 just before the break when a corner fell to Danny Williams, whose first-time strike was deflected home.

Llanrwst came out in the second half with a great attitude but the visitors were determined not to concede.

However, as the game neared its end Junction did slip up and Jenkins headed home from close range on 81 minutes to give his side some hope.

As Rwst pushed for an equaliser they left big gaps at the back and Ross Howcroft-Jones produced a fantastic through ball to Chris Quinn, who rounded the keeper to seal the points.

Junction joint-manager Martyn Jones said: “After the frustration of throwing away a 2-0 lead on Saturday we are delighted to get our first win on the board.

“Although it wasn’t our best performance the result was important tonight.”

Abergele Town made it two wins out of two with a 1-0 verdict at Llandyrnog United, Jack McDougall on target.
