Tudno off to Trefriw

-

LLANDUDNO will travel to Division One North leaders Nant Conwy this Saturday looking to build on last weekend’s excellent 38-12 home victory over Bethesda.

The hosts produced a very clinical display in the first half at Maesdu Road, totally outplaying the visitors in scoring five tries and four conversions.

Tudno recorded the first five points when their strong and powerful right wing George Thomas crossed the try-line, Ryan Pike adding a touchline conversion.

Pesda were next on the scoresheet when from a lineout the pack drove over for a try by Paul Thomas.

Llan responded in similar fashion when they were awarded a lineout from which the pack shoved on-permit RGC captain Kelvin Davies over the try-line, Pike again adding the extras from wide out.

Pressure was now telling on the visiting defence, gaps began to appear and this was exploited with winger Thomas claiming his second touchdown.

Davies completed his double, again from a driving maul near the posts, giving Pike an easy conversion.

The home backs were now in full flight, and eventually centre Dave Davies notched the final try of the first half, Pike’s two-pointer making it 33-5 at the interval.

The second half saw both teams receive a number of yellow cards, and this seemed to upset the pattern of play due to numerous stoppages.

The half was more evenly contested, but Nik Maxwell completed the home scoring with a well-worked try involving backs and forwards, when he forced his way through the defence and over.

Bethesda managed a consolation score through Gethin Owen, Gethin Long converting.

Man of the Match: Bobby Lee Davies.

Saturday’s clash with Nant kicks off early at 1.30pm due to Wales v Australia starting at 4.45.
