MBI Llandudno will look to extend their unbeaten run to five matches when they host Welsh Premier high-flyers Bala Town this Saturday (2.30pm).

Alan Morgan’s side moved up to fifth in the table following a 1-1 draw at bottom side Rhyl on Tuesday night.

Tudno dominated the first half at the Corbett Sports Stadium and could have been at least two goals up by the interval.

Danny Shaw will feel he should have done better from a free header inside the box, Marc Williams put the ball wide when put through one-on-one with keeper Mike Askew and Lewis Buckley hooked over the bar from close range.

Rhyl came out stronger for the second half and knocked the visitors out of their stride.

In the 52nd minute the pacy Connor Bell latched onto a smart pass into the box by Tom Donegan and finished well past keeper Dave Roberts.

The hosts continued to have the upper hand, but Tudno rallied in the closing stages, equalising in the 77th minute when Marc Williams leapt high to head home from a Lee Thomas corner.

Rhyl could have snatched it late on, but John Owen and Greg Stones were off target with headers from flag kicks.

Roberts also had to be alert to tip a goalbound corner from substitute Rob Hughes over the crossbar.

Last Saturday saw the Seasiders continue their fine form with a 1-0 home triumph over Airbus UK Broughton.

Llandudno broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute when a hanging cross from the right by Danny Hughes saw Buckley nip in ahead of keeper James Coates to head into an empty net.

The home side now had a golden spell, Hughes just failing to get a Marc Williams cross on target before a lovely exchange between James Joyce and Buckley ended with a shot zipping narrowly wide.

Hughes and Buckley then linked to find Gareth Evans, who fired across the face of goal and Williams appeared to be bundled over in trying to reach the ball.

In the 32nd minute Tudno’s Lee Thomas crossed to the back post and Buckley’s fierce volley was beaten away by Coates.

Soon after a Tom Field free kick was charged down and Thomas led a counter-attack, but he chose the wrong option in passing to Buckley, who hurriedly lashed over.

Airbus came out strongly for the second half and Roberts got down well to thwart a Ryan Wade drive.

In the 58th minute Wingmakers substitute James Murphy made a dazzling run into the box and was tripped by Michael Johnston, who was yellow-carded.

A penalty was awarded but Roberts pulled off a marvellous save from Field, diving to his right.

Thomas had a great chance for the Seasiders after neat passing between Buckley and Hughes, but scuffed his effort.

Williams then twisted and turned in the box and fired in a firm shot, but Coates was able to block.

Mike Pearson scooped over for the visitors, who pressed hard till the end, but the Tudno defence was magnificent with Danny Shaw standing out.

In the second minute of stoppage time, Field blasted high and wide and the final whistle went on a memorable home win.
