Premiership dream comes true for He

-

EXCITING Chinese midfielder Dongda He has fulfilled his dream of reaching the Premier League after Wolves beat off a number of clubs to sign the Notts County teenager.

They have paid an undisclosed fee to land the 17-year-old who impressed for Kevin Nolan’s first team during pre-season.

Southampton were also interested in signing He, but Wolves moved swiftly to secure his signature having lodged a bid before the end of the transfer window deadline on Thursday.

Magpies chairman Alan Hardy believes the deal is a fair one and says it underlines how Notts are keen to develop young talent.

“We’re very, very proud of Dongda,” he said. “He’s a player this club has nurtured for many years and to see him get his move to the Premier League is fantastic. For us, it’s a lucrative deal which will only improve in time. It sends a clear message to young players – both our own and those who may join us in the future – that Notts County provides a pathway to success.”

He featured a number of times for Nolan in pre-season scoring a peach of a goal in the 3-1 win over Basford. He also came on in the 4-1 defeat to Leicester but showcased his ability with an incredible mazy run which saw him beat four players.

A product of the club’s academy, He has trained with Nolan’s side and was on the bench for their League Two opener against Colchester.
