Oktober at The Garage

- By LYNETTE PINCHESS

LEDERHOSEN and steins at the ready – the world’s biggest beer festival is coming to Chilwell in October.

The authentic German Oktoberfest will be a two-day festival with an oompah band, Bavarian treats such as pretzels, bratwurst and currywurst and, most importantly, genuine German beers which are being imported directly from Munich – the same beer that is downed at the official Oktoberfest festival attended by more than six million people each year.

The Garage – the old Barton’s bus headquarters in High Road – will be staging the event on Friday, October 19, and Saturday 20, on the back of its popular street food nights, comedy events and Sunday markets, which will be expanding in the winter.

Barton Bros – Richard, James and Tom – are behind the event. James said: “It’s the perfect event for the area and the venue. Beeston and Chilwell live and breathe beer.

“Since its conception we’ve focused on authenticity and high quality, we want people to feel like they’re in Munich, but without the hassle of having to fly home when they want to go to bed!”

Tickets are from £5. The fun will start on the Friday from 4pm to 11pm, with two sessions on the Saturday from noon to 3.30pm and 4pm to 11pm.

You can buy tickets and find out more about this event and the others happening at The Garage at www.thegaragechilwell.
