WHETHER you prefer to wash or wipe off your cleanser, we find out which ones leave your face feeling fabulous.

■ LIXIR Electrogel Cleanser Evening Cleanser and Detoxifying Mask in One, £25 (100ml), cultbeauty.co.uk

THIS is a creamy cleanser which works well as a first clean, as it does a good job at breaking down mascara and matte lipsticks. It leaves a creamy residue on your face, which is a good thing, but it doesn’t leave you with that clean and supple feeling like oil and balm-based cleansers do. A nice evening cleanser, it comes in a generous size, has a pleasant fresh smell, and does what it says on the tin.

■ GARDEN of Wonder Daily Cleanser, £12, victoriahealth.com

A great all-rounder – good for removing the ‘city’ from your skin after a day at work or for when you need to relax. There are no uglies either – petrochemicals, parabens, synthetic fragrances and SLS are all on Gow’s banned list. And a little goes a long way.

■ EVE Lom Gel Cleanser, £45 (100ml), Space NK EVE LOM’S original cleanser is a cult favourite but it is a bit faffy with all that applying then removing with a muslin cloth. This gel version is simpler, just apply one or two pumps to damp skin, and when it mixes with water, it turns into a milky balm that washes away all make-up without leaving skin feeling tight. Though there’s no way I could justify spending that much on a cleanser.

■ NUXE Comforting Cleansing Milk with Rose Petals, £9.66, escentual.com

THE enticing smell of roses is reason enough to use this cleanser. It’s gentle on the skin and less harsh than a lot of products on the market. Add it to your normal facial routine and you won’t be sorry. Blooming lovely.
