YOUNG people who have overcome severe health challenges, supported others and achieved great things will be among those recognised at a prestigious youth awards evening on October 26.

A “super seven” young people from across the county have been named as the district winners of Nottinghamshire County Council’s Outstanding Achievement 4Uth Award for 2018.

Nottinghamshire County Council Leader Councillor Kay Cutts, MBE, council Chairman Councillor Mrs Sue Saddington and Councillor Tracey Taylor, Vice-chairman of the Children and Young People’s Committee, will join around 100 guests for the annual final at County Hall.

The 4Uth awards are a Nottinghamshire County Council initiative to celebrate the achievements of young people across the county. District winners will be celebrated on the night and the overall county-wide winner will also be announced.

Family and friends of each of the finalists and members of the youth service will be also be in attendance as videos charting the inspirational sto-

ries of all seven young people are showcased.

Nottinghamshire County Council leader Councillor Kay Cutts said: “The 4Uth awards are a wonderful way to be able to recognise and reward young people for outstanding achievements.

“We would also like to thank everyone who has taken time to nominate someone special – there have once again been so many remarkable stories.”

Councillor Saddington said: “Our finalists can be very proud of their achievements.

“This year they have been selected as the leading nominee within their district following the judging process in which there were many worthy candidates. The awards night allows everyone to celebrate with their family and friends.”

There were approximately 80 nominations – with entries received from

friends, family members, youth workers and people who work in a range of voluntary, public sector and other organisations.

Judging panels in each district decided the winners from three nominations in each district, and a separate judging panel assessed the final seven.
