A right royal party

-

FROM the red velvet and chocolate cake to the brand of tequila behind the bar, we’ve already been teased with the wedding plans of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank.

Of course the nuptials are not going to capture the public’s attention quite like those of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and there has been controversy over how much will be spent on the big day.

Thousands of furious fans have even signed a petition against using taxpayers’ money, with a rumoured bill of up to £2 million for a Princess who carries out no royal duties.

So what do we know about the lavish event? Eugenie, the Queen’s 28-year-old granddaughter, will get hitched to drinks executive Jack at St George’s Chapel, Windsor – the same venue as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. At least 800 guests, including the Queen, the Cambridges and the Sussexes, will be dressed in their finest as they gather in the gothic chapel.

Only the Duchess of Cornwall is unable to attend, having a longstanding prior engagement at a school harvest festival in Scotland.

There will be plenty of celebrity spotting opportunities too, with rumoured guests including Robbie Williams and his wife and fellow X Factor judge Ayda, George and Amal Clooney, singer Ellie Goulding, supermodel Cindy Crawford and the Beckhams.

Eugenie’s big sister Princess Beatrice will be her maid of honour, and we hear that her dress is by a British designer.

Italian singer-songwriter Andrea Bocelli will perform during the service and the Queen is hosting an afternoon reception before an evening party carries on into the early hours.

If you’re a fan of the royals, then best get the bunting out.
