AFINALIST from Masterchef: The Professionals, who blew judges away with her impressive culinary skills, is going to be rustling up a storm in Nottingham.

Since reaching the final three in the the BBC cookery competition last year, Louisa Ellis has become a private chef, cooking for families, special occasions and running her own supper clubs across the UK.

The only woman to reach the final stages, she wowed the judges with her flavours and received rave reviews.

One of the dishes she will be presenting in Nottingham, at a special two-night supper club, will be banana, yuzu and cognac, which was hailed a showstopper by renowned chef Monica Galetti, while Gregg Wallace described it as the best banana dessert he’d ever tasted.

“When I got sweet banana, sharp yuzu, cognac foam and toasty nuts, that was it, I was gone, I was floating away on banana heaven. That is divine,” he said.

Louisa, who has worked in a Michelin-starred kitchen, will be taking over the kitchen at Hockley cocktail bar Cotton-mouth in Goose Gate on October 26 and 27, creating a set menu of small plates with memorable flavours.

The five-course menu, costing £35, is called Umami – the fifth taste after salt, sweet, sour and bitter.

Dishes include lime-cured mackerel and spicy beetroot relish, chicken potato and massaman sauce, and that dessert – banana, yuzu, caramel and cognac.

A vegetarian menu is also available.

“I will be using some very interesting ingredients and some big flavours,” said 23-year-old Louisa, who has been a chef for six years.

Tables are available 6pm-10pm. Email: umami@cottonmouth.co.uk.
