Lexus names the price of new UX

PREMIUM car brand Lexus has announced prices for its new UX compact crossover which will be on sale next spring.

A three model line up will be available with the new UX starting from £29,000.

It will be joined by F Sport models priced from £33,900 and the range will top out from £39,100 for high specificat­ion Takumi versions.

All will be powered by Lexus’ hybrid powertrain which uses a 2.0-litre, four cylinder petrol engine mated to an electric motor. The car will be badged UX 250h.

Front and all-wheel-drive models will be available with the latter using Lexus’s lightweigh­t E-four system which provides electric motor drive to the rear wheels.

Performanc­e figures for the UX are still to be announced.

The UX is the first model to be built on the new Lexus Global Architectu­re – C platform which features a low centre of gravity and a rigid body constructi­on.

Key features for the F Sport include 18-inch alloy wheels and a front spindle grille, plus F Sport front seats, rear privacy glass, heated, power-adjustable front seats and a heated steering wheel.

The UX Takumi, named in celebratio­n of Lexus’s skilled takumi craftsmen, has leather upholstery, integrated front seat ventilatio­n, a bespoke Mark Levinson 13-speaker Premium Surround Sound system, 10-inch multimedia display, 360-degree camera, driver’s head-up display, sunroof, blind spot monitor and rear cross traffic alert with braking function.

The car is due to be launched in March, 2019.
