Murder accused: I never meant to injure him like that

-

A WOMAN on trial for murder told police “I never intended to injure him like I have”.

Jurors have heard Demi Harris stabbed her partner, Christopher Pearson, at his home in Strathmore Close in Hucknall after a hot-tub party. She pleads not guilty.

The 21-year-old claimed that when Mr Pearson followed her into the house, he threatened he was going to kill her.

She also said that she ran upstairs, pursued by him, and he caught hold of her by her ankle at the top of the stairs. She claimed he violently pushed her through the open door to their bedroom where she fell against the bedside cabinet.

She picked up the knife and managed to walk part-way past Mr Pearson, jurors have been told.

She said: “I just wanted to get past him and if that meant him grabbing me and me jabbing him with it, just a jab, not a stab, not a puncher; just a quick prick, so it shocks him to move out of the way, so I’ve got enough time to get down the stairs”.

The fatal altercation happened after Mr Pearson had been been the last of three men to be wearing his boxer shorts in an outdoor hot tub. One woman had got down to her underwear and another was on the rim of the tub dangling her feet into the water, Nottingham Crown Court has heard.

Harris had leaned out of a bedroom window and shouted “don’t you dare” and “are you actually getting naked whilst other girls are there?” Pearson took his shorts off and within seconds Harris had allegedly stormed over to the tub in February this year and was pulled in fully-clothed.
