LYNDON JAMES IS ONE TO LOOK FOR IN 2019

-

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE have two “very exciting” prospects in Jack Blatherwick and Lyndon James.

That is the verdict of head coach Peter Moores, who has high hopes for both seamer Blatherwick and all-rounder James.

“We had Jack and Lyndon play this summer. Both are very exciting,” the head coach said.

“Both are very different. Jack has been around for a while but Lyndon really came on in the second half of last season.

“There’s been a lot said about developing batters here. Lyndon bats very well. He needs to move forwards over the winter. If he gets that right, he can do well.

“He needs to work hard this winter. Jack is starting to apply what we’ve known he’s had for a while.

“He’s a very fine bowler potentially. Now he’s learning how to get wickets.

“He’s working it out more and he needs to keep moving that forwards.”

Former England Under-19 international Blatherwick, 20, played twice in the Royal London One Day Cup last season. He recently signed his first professional contract.

James, 19, on the other hand made his debut in the County Championship match against Essex, taking three first innings wickets.

He decided against starting a degree in September in order to pursue cricket full time.

The pair are not the only highlyrated young players at Trent Bridge.

Opening batsman Chris Gibson is understood to have come close to being named in a squad last season.

And all-rounder Nick Kimber is already in the England Under-19s squad.
