Prepare for take-off

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW IF YOU HAVE A JET2 FLIGHT BOOKED FROM EAST MIDLANDS AIRPORT

- By MATTHEW BUNN matthew.bunn@reachplc.com @bunnmj20

HOLIDAYMAKERS were able to return to sunny destinations across Europe with Jet2 from yesterday, as flight operations were restarted.

The airline, which runs a number of services from and through East Midlands Airport, cancelled all holidays as the country went into lockdown because of the coronavirus pandemic.

It was not running to all destinations from yesterday but there are plans to bring in more flights later this month and from the start of August.

The company has put a number of measures in place to keep passengers safe.

New safety measures might include temperature checks and changes to how you move around the airport.

Members of Jet2 staff will be on hand to help customers.

If you check in online then all you will need to do is head straight to Jet2’s self service kiosk.

There will be just one touch on a screen and you will be all ready to jet away. Check-in desks have been fitted with protective screens to protect staff and passengers.

Passengers will need to show passports and boarding pass to staff at the boarding gate.

You will then need to lift your face covering so they can check you match the photo on your passport.

When you board the plane you will get on in smaller groups than normal, so the process might take a little bit longer.

There have been some changes made on planes, including staff wearing face masks, in addition to passengers.

The toilets will be open but passengers will be asked to stay in their seats until one is available, rather than queuing in the aisles.

You will need to wear a mask throughout your flight, but you can take it off temporarily to eat and drink.

Children under six do not need to wear masks.

The in-flight food and drink trolley will still be available.

There will be no hand sanitiser on board so passengers are asked to bring their own in bottles less than 100ml.

All aircraft will be professionally sanitised after every journey.

Cabin crew will tell you if there is anything you need to know once you’ve landed about your destination or arrival airport.
