Time to fine people who don’t cover up

-

AS we rise from this current pandemic, it is vital that everyone applies common sense when venturing outside our “bubbles” in respect to the wearing of masks.

It’s vital that everyone adheres, and if someone is not wearing a mask, then it’s a case that a fine is imposed unless evidence is produced to an officer to justify an exemption.

Neighbours and friends are still very reluctant to venture into the city, as a proportion of passengers are still not wearing a mask. As mentioned in previous letters, I am a victim of a respiratory condition but I have no issues about wearing one in confined spaces.

We have already seen backlashes against social media and the harm it’s caused with conspiracy theories as well as party-goers or protesters who feel their entertainment or cause is more important than increasing the risk of further deaths and infections, of their own family or fellow participants and their families.

With another pandemic possibly in the pipeline we need temporary legislations to prevent such protests seen in recent weeks.
