JCB rammed into Co-op
ATM RAIDERS FLEE IN TWO VEHICLES AND EVADE CAPTURE DESPITE HELICOPTER SEARCH
RAIDERS escaped chasing police after smashing their way into a village store in a bid to steal its cash machine.
The entrance to the Farnsfield Co-op on Main Street was destroyed by a large JCB digger, left at the scene yesterday morning.
Nottinghamshire Police confirmed offenders attempted to steal cash from an ATM machine at the store.
The suspects drove the JCB into the Co-op at around 2.20am yesterday, although the ATM wasn’t taken and it’s unknown if any cash was stolen from the machine.
A cordon remained in place while detective continue with their investigations.
Officers said suspects fled the scene in a white Nissan pick-up truck and a black Audi.
A police chase ensued after the pick-up was spotted heading along the A614 towards Ollerton.
During the pursuit the truck veered off into a field in Belph, which is part of the Welbeck Abbey Estate.
The driver then allegedly rammed a pursuing police vehicle which continued to follow it before the occupants got out and fled on foot.
Nottinghamshire Police’s Drone Team and a police helicopter assisted with a thorough search of the area but no suspects were located. The black Audi has not been found.
