Loyalty card to help charity support hospital

-

NOTTINGHAM based charity Friends of Queen’s Medical Centre (QMC) has launched a loyalty card, rewarding customers with points to spend at a later date.

Every £5 spent at one of the charity’s shops in Lenton or Keyworth earns one stamp and once customers have collected all ten stamps a £5 discount will be given on the next purchase over £5.

The Friends of QMC was set up in 1978 and operates as an independent charity for the benefit of the staff, carers and patients of QMC. It funds various initiatives and equipment and has recently supported the creation of a safe space to support the wellbeing of medical students within Nottingham University Hospital (NUH) Medical Education Department.

When the charity was asked if they could help support the virtual reality mediation hub that they are setting up for relaxation and wellbeing, Friends of QMC were more than happy to assist with providing items.

A reclining chair, foot stool, headphones, mood lighting and artwork to help create a calm and relaxing area for users were donated by the charity.

The hub will provide a private space for students to unwind and re-energise in, away from the academic and clinical challenges and pressures they face on a day to day basis.

Nora Bradley, Vice Chair and Trustee of Friends of QMC said: “The shops are a key source of income and without the loyalty of our regular customers we simply wouldn’t be able support the QMC with such projects as the virtual reality mediation hub.”

Friends of QMC rely on the public’s generosity and are looking to recruit trustees for their board, people to help in their shops and people who are will to fundraise. If you think you can help, please contact the Friends of QMC at https://friendsofqmc.org.uk/
