Dreaming of getaway from all this gloom

-

ARE you like me – fed up seeing depressing televised news and reading gloomy newspaper reports? If it isn’t another fatal stabbing, drugs, Covid-19, idiotic students, the leader of the city council blaming everyone except himself, his useless councillors failing their public duties and subjected to dictatorial council employees. We desperately need good news to raise our flagging spirits and put smiles on our faces. I would have a beaming smile if reading local Labour acted honourably and emigrated to a remote part of Siberia, and took their bolshie council employees with them.

Where would you like to be? On a Caribbean undeveloped, environmentally beautiful island with its friendly people who are mainly lawful too. Only special people are given immigration status. The island could have the same landmass as Britain with around 13 million people. Their government’s strict instructions have nearly eradicated the virus. Once that government makes a decision, most comply – unlike Nottingham’s students who continually disgrace our once proud city. Where is the logic for the UK government permitting TUI take British tourists to that island’s Varadero and Matanza resorts?

In March the Coronavirus Act legislation was published. Schedule 22 would appear to protect the public from gatherings. Could Councillor Mellen explain why as Nottingham’s leader he permitted gatherings on council properties? This legislation gave authority to ban BLM gatherings and gave MPS authority to notify of those legislative rights. Nottingham’s three idle Labour MPS just criticised the Government. Yes, the Government has much to answer for its confusing instructions and delays.

Many months too late, the police were clamping down on student parties. It would appear that the 2020 legislation gave police authority to have prevented gatherings, especially the one that marched from London Road into Nottingham and overcrowded Clumber Street. During the miners’ strike, police blocked roads that prevented the “flying pickets” travelling. Have politically correct Notts police lost control of our streets?

Nottingham’s residents are owed a duty of care. Will it be established that those whose duty it is to provide that duty of care were negligent in that duty? Namely the Notts Police Commissioner, the Chief Constable, Councillor Mellen, accommodation landlords, NET directors and the two universities’ chancellors?

Arrest those who refuse to abuse a court order. Give the privileged convict suits, with a ball and chain around their ankles and then have them removing the weeds infesting Nottingham’s suburbs. Upon paying financial penalties, expel them. That would send a clear message that Nottingham’s residents will not tolerate them. Is it possible for us to receive that support?

Life is full of making difficult decisions. Should I return to politics (I’m slightly younger than Biden) or, when possible, enjoy the Caribbean sun, with very friendly people with their naturally attractive women, have room to stretch my legs, breathe unpolluted air, fishing, wearing flimsy clothes, walking on golden sands, drinking delicious Cuban rum, eating food that does not come out of a can, many miles from despicable local Labour and no newspapers reporting more gloom? The downside is no real ale, and very tasty Irish stout.
