More than 80 schools have been affected since pupils returned

-

MORE than 80 schools and education providers across Nottinghamshire have now confirmed positive Covid-19 tests.

Four schools have confirmed cases this week, taking the total to around 82 since children returned to classrooms in September.

One of the schools to confirm a positive case on Tuesday was the Kimberley School in Broxtowe.

A letter on the school’s website said: “We have been made aware of a member of our school community who has tested positive for Covid19.

“We know that you may find this concerning but we are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England.

“We have identified the children who have been in close contact (as defined by Public Health England) with the individual who has tested positive for coronavirus and they will now have to self-isolate at home for 14 days.

“The school remains open and all other children should continue to attend as normal if they remain well.”

South Nottinghamshire Academy and Sixth Form, in Radcliffe-on-trent, also confirmed members of its “school community” had tested positive for the virus.

Ambleside Primary School in Aspley also confirmed on its website that Class 7 is closed until November 26. Online lessons will be provided for the pupils who need to stay at home.

Sutton Community Academy in Ashfield also confirmed more Covid-19 cases, with the school closing down two year “bubbles”.

A secondary school in Clifton also confirmed that a member of “our school community” had tested positive for Covid-19. Farnborough Academy stated a small number of children who had been in close contact with the affected person must now stay home for 14 days.
