Drug dealer crashed car in police chase
DRIVER TRIED TO FLEE AFTER SMASHING INTO VEHICLES
DASHCAM footage showed the moment a speeding drug dealer lost control of his car and ploughed into stationary traffic - moments before he was chased down and arrested by police.
Ricardo Cotteral, 32, was spotted driving at a high speed along Alfreton Road towards Nottingham city centre on the evening of May 22 this year.
As police began chasing him Cotteral lost control of his VW Golf, clipped a kerb and crashed into three vehicles at the junction with Gregory Boulevard as queued at red lights.
After fleeing on foot he entered the home of a nearby family in an attempt to hide from officers. He was eventually caught when police were alerted to his presence by somebody inside signalling from an upstairs window.

The driver of one of the cars hit by Cotteral sustained minor injures from the crash. Cotteral, of Selborne Gardens, St Ann’s, refused to say anything to police during this first interview, before claiming in this second interview that he’d “been set up”.
He later pleaded guilty to one count of dangerous driving, one of possessing class A drugs with intent to supply, and one for possession of a class B drug. Appearing at Nottingham Crown Court, he was sentenced to total of three years and six months in prison and disqualified from driving. Detective Constable Rebecca Brosgarth, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Cotteral was not only driving around with a very large quantity of cocaine in his car; he was also driving in a reckless and dangerous way that placed other road users at risk.
“It is no exaggeration to say he could quite easily have caused death or serious injury to other road users with his reckless and selfish actions that day - not to mention the very great harm caused by his illicit trade in drugs. “I am pleased he has now been jailed and would also like to pay tribute to the response officers who did such a great job to bring him into custody.”
